Casey and Michelle Buckleitner have worked in the outdoor and retail industry for a combined total of over 40 years. Casey started teaching snowboarding in 1997 at Hidden Valley Resort, now Otsego Resort at age 16, he taught for almost 20 years. In college, Michelle started teaching skiing at the resort where they met. Casey attended Western Michigan University and raced on their snowboard team. After graduating in 2006 Casey worked for several years as a marketing representative for Gore-Tex brand.
In 2008 they moved to Colorado where Casey was the MRO (Maintenance Repair and Operations) buyer for all of Vail Resort's chairlifts located in Summit County. Michelle worked at the J Crew outlet in Silverthorne, CO.
After several years in Colorado, the returned to Michigan and Casey started his own independent sales business, selling bicycle and outdoor inventory to retail stores across the Midwest for 7 years while Michelle worked in retail at Sun and Snow sports in Plymouth, MI.
In 2018 the opportunity presented itself to open White Birch Outfitters in their hometown of Gaylord, MI.

You're always welcome to leave skis, poles and ski boots behind our downtown location and the will find new lives as either refurbished equipment available to area youth, or use in repurposing projects.
Also - notice we don't have a commercial dumpster or trash can behind our shop? (The upstairs apartments have one) We recycle everything!
